Audi Q5 (2008-2016) installed Android head unit

We have installed the SMARTY Trend head unit in Audi Q5. This head unit works in cars with different car trim levels. In our case, the car trim level was as followings:

Only the factory screen is changing during SMARTY Trend head unit's installation in the Audi Q5. This head unit is installing in the car, as a separate device. The factory system remains and continues its functioning. The SMARTY Trend's screen keeps displaying and controlling the factory settings of the car. The sound of the SMARTY Trend head unit will be connected via AUX.

The head unit fits perfectly into the car's interior, without any problems. It looks like it is factory one, really modern.
The screen size of this head unit is 10,25 inches.  The device loads quickly. The first boot requires only 20 seconds. The head unit starts just in a second during the hour of inactivity (sleep mode).

Some applications are installed on the head unit for quick access to its most common functions.

Let's take a closer look at these features. The first icon from the left is "audio", it launches the application that is needed to listen to audio files. On the top of the Music's interface, you can choose the playback source (SD card, USB, internal memory, a playlist), the names of songs will be displayed on its left side. The application for watching a video - "video" works identically.

The "navigation" application opens the navigation on your device. Together with our Android head unit, you will also get a navigation device, with the option to choose a navigation program. It can be Google maps, Yandex Navigator, IGo, Navitel navigator, Garmin and others with Play Market. You also will be able to use each of these applications, to decide which one will be the most convenient for you.

With help of Bluetooth application, you can make Hands free calls, listen to music via Bluetooth, connect other Bluetooth devices (OBD adapter, TPMS sensors).

To use our head unit for calls, you need to connect your phone to the head unit via Bluetooth and copy your phonebook to the device. In the future, your phone will connect to the head unit automatically - when you will get into your car (in case if your Bluetooth is on).

Due to the fact that the radio works on the Android operating system, you can easily install various applications on it. This can be done by the following ways:

- using the Play Market app

- using the Internet access to download and install the application with the apk.extension.

- using SD card or other removable data storage device.

The special application Easy Connected copies the image from your phone to the screen of the head unit. It also has a special application for tire pressure sensors. The factory functions of the car will be still working after our head unit installation. The rear-view camera was connected without problems and continues to perform its functions with the new device. Dynamic parking lines are still displayed on the screen of the head unit. The factory rear parking sensors also keep functioning.

The buttons under the head unit have retained their functionality and work as usual.
The climate control information is displaying on the head unit screen. After our head unit installation, the sound becomes better.
